For many users in emerging markets, Facebook is their internet, their main source for news, entertainment, community updates, and local commerce. Facebook Lite's existing bookmarks menu wasn't serving that reality well.

Users couldn't see what was inside each section without tapping into it. Deep navigation created confusion and drop-offs. On limited data plans, every extra page load carried a real cost. The menu didn't encourage exploration or surface timely content, and shared devices, common in these markets, lacked any way to switch between users.

I redesigned the static bookmarks menu into a content-first experience that surfaces relevant information at a glance, without sacrificing performance or simplicity: lightweight previews for videos, events, and Marketplace items; real-time content snippets to increase relevance and exploration; more intuitive navigation patterns; and multi-user account switching for shared devices, all built with low-end devices and limited bandwidth as first-class constraints, not afterthoughts.
