Flamingo is a digital platform that makes gender and attraction identities accessible through short personal stories. It comes out of Hoshen, Education and Change, the education and outreach organisation of the LGBTQ+ community in Israel.

Flamingo began as an idea of mine, first developed as a design final project in the Visual Communication department at Shenkar's School of Design.

Working with Hoshen and with AppsFlyer, it grew into an accessible platform where anyone can come to know these identities through stories and lived experience.

You can watch people of every identity talk about their own identity, about coming out, about relationships and more.

The videos can be followed by identity (everyone bisexual talking about bisexuality), by subject (all the coming-out stories), or by participant (everything one person recorded).

The redesign took a mobile-first approach built around teenagers' short attention spans: fast entry points, short-form video, and a structure that lets someone unfamiliar with the subject find their way in without friction.

That is what widened the project from a tool aimed mainly at the LGBTQ+ community into one that also serves teenagers and parents who may not know the terms at all.
